St. Sergius Parish in South Africa participated in a charity event for orphans

On August 22nd, the dean of the parishes of the South African Diocese, Archpriest Daniil Lugovoy, along with parishioners from the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg, participated in a charity event organized in collaboration with the Russian Embassy in the Republic of South Africa at the New Jerusalem orphanage.

On the occasion of Russia’s National Flag Day, embassy staff held a discussion with the children about Russia and its flag. A documentary film was shown, after which everyone present prepared sandwiches together and treated the orphans, reports the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, citing the parish website.

The community members, led by Archpriest Daniil Lugovoy, have visited this social institution multiple times. Last year, in the lead-up to Christmas, parishioners, together with the Russian Embassy, organized a festive event for the children, which included various workshops, a festive meal, and a musical concert.
