Journal of the Holy Synod on the appointment of a vicar-bishop to the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa

On October 24, 2024, at the Patriarchal and Synodal residence in the Danilov Monastery in Moscow, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ chaired a regular meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.

HAVING JUDGED the state of affairs in the Synodal Missionary Department

WE CAME TO THE DECISION:

1. His Grace Bishop Euthymius of Lukhovitsy is to be relieved of his duties as chairman of the Synodal Missionary Department, Vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus’ and abbot of the Vysokopetrovsky Stavropegial Monastery.
2. The interim-chairman of the Synodal Missionary Department shall be priest Anthony Kosych, cleric of the Moscow Diocese.
3. His Grace Bishop Euthymius is to be a vicar-bishop of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, keeping his previous title.
