On the 24th of October, 2024 a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church took place in Moscow.
Members of the Synod produced a judgement on the state of affairs in the Synodal Missionary Department (Journal No. 114)
The Synod decreed that His Grace Bishop Euthymius of Lukhovitsy is to be relieved of his duties as chairman of the Synodal Missionary Department, Vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus’ and abbot of the Vysokopetrovsky Stavropegial Monastery.
His Grace Bishop Euthymius is appointed vicar-bishop of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, keeping his previous title.
