Eighty-four people receive baptism in Kenya on the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Forerunner

On 7th July 2024, the Feast of the Nativity of the Holy Glorious Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist John, residents of Centre B village, Baringo County, Lugari Deanery, Kenya, received the sacrament of baptism with the blessing of Metropolitan Konstantin of Zaraisk, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa.

On the feast day, Priest Peter Lutomia, local dean, baptised 84 people. The new parish was named in honour of St. John the Baptist.

Having administered the sacrament, Father Peter, assisted by Deacon John Shilesi, celebrated the Divine Liturgy, during which the newly baptised Orthodox Christians partook of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.

For two months, Deacon John Shilesi, who had completed training courses for clergymen in Moscow the year before, had been instructing the catechumens in the Orthodox faith. Catechist Emmanuel Wanjala taught them church chanting.

After the divine service, Father Peter offered a repast to the new members of the Church.
