The Patriarchal Exarch of Africa held a meeting of the clergy of the Central Deanery of Tanzania

On July 23, 2026, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, presided over a general meeting of the clergy of the Central Deanery of Tanzania.

Father George Maximov, chairman of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, took part in the meeting.

During the meeting, the participants discussed current issues regarding the development of the Russian Orthodox Church in Tanzania.

Metropolitan Konstantin appointed Archimandrite Zacharia (Mulingwa), a graduate of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, as the new dean of the Central Ecclesiastical District of Tanzania.

Archimandrite Filaret (Kimaro), who previously served as dean of the Central District, was relieved of his duties with expressions of gratitude for his service and appointed confessor of the Northern and Central Deaneries of Tanzania.

Priest George Maximov presented and distributed to the clergy a prayer book, a Small Euchologion, and other Orthodox literature in Swahili, prepared by the Spiritual and Educational Center of the Apostle Mark of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.

In conclusion, the archpastor presented commemorative gifts to the clergy.

In addition, with the support of benefactors from Russia, each clergyman was presented with a motorcycle for pastoral and missionary needs.
