A priest made a missionary trip to the Haut-Katanga Province in the south of the DR Congo

From May 6 to 19, 2026, Father Ambrose Bukasa, rector of the Parish of St. Moses the Ethiopian in the village of Kikwit (Kwilu Province), undertook a missionary trip to the village of Kazumba (Haut-Katanga Province), located in the southern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The DR Congo is the second-largest country on the continent, and due to the remoteness of the villages, the one-way trip took more than two days.

The priest celebrated divine services and sacraments, spoke with residents, and also addressed issues related to registering a plot of land for the parish.

On Sundays, May 10 and 17, Father Ambrose celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the parish of the Great Martyr Catherine.

During these days, the priest baptized ten local residents who had converted to Orthodoxy from other Christian denominations, and also performed the sacrament of marriage for parishioner John and his bride Tina.
