Metropolitan Varsonofy meets with students of St. Petersburg Theological Academy from Africa and Southeast Asia

On 23rd January 2023, on the premises of the Diocesan Administration, Metropolitan Varsonofy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga met with foreign students of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy. Taking part in the meeting were attendees of preparatory courses from Nigeria, the Central African Republic, Madagascar, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Kenya, as well as students from the Philippines and Indonesia.

The hierarch extended greetings to those present on the feasts of Christmas and the Baptism of the Lord and addressed them with an archpastoral exhortation.

The students were accompanied by the rector of the Academy, Bishop Siluan of Peterhof. Acting as translators during the meeting were members of the Academy faculty – Archpriest Dimitry Sizonenko (French language) and Ms Nadezhda Kolesnikova (English language).

On 20th January, on the premises of the Missionary Department of the St. Petersburg Diocese, the foreign students of the Theological Academy met with Rev. Jacques Smuts from the Republic of South Africa.

During the meeting, Fr. Jacques told about his life journey and his practical experience in carrying out mission in Africa.
