On January 19th 2024, the Feast of the Holy Theophany – the Baptism of our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ, Metropolitan Konstantin of Zaraysk, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, celebrated the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great in Kenya, on the shore of Lake Victoria.
Concelebrating with the hierarch were Priest George Maximov, chairman of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa; Priest Angelos Oribe, dean of the Homa Bay church district; and clerics of the Homa Bay deanery.
A sermon before the Communion was given by Rev. George Maximov.
After the Liturgy, Metropolitan Konstantin performed the rite of the Great Blessing of Water and sprinkled the worshippers with holy water.
After that, the hierarch blessed the waters of the largest lake on the African continent.
Metropolitan Konstantin also addressed the faithful with an archpastoral homily and presented them with crosses and icons. He also presented an icon of the Most Holy Theotokos to the local parish.
