Metropolitan Leonid of Klin, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, sent a message of greetings to the President of the Tunisian Republic, Mr Kais Saied, on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day.
His Excellency Mr Kais Saied President The Tunisian Republic
Your Excellency, dear Mr President,
I send my heartfelt greetings to you and all citizens of Tunisia on the Independence Day of the Republic!
In 1956 Tunisia became a sovereign state and embarked on the path of independent development. Over the past years the people of the Republic, having undergone many ordeals, carried out a large-scale programme of socio-economic reforms. Today, overcoming any arising difficulties, the democratic Tunisia successfully continues its steady progress on the path of peace and creative effort.
I would like to thank the people of Tunisia for the hospitality extended to Russian emigrants in times of hardships for our nation. The Russian emigrants soon established friendly relations with the local population and enjoyed great respect in the country. Bearing witness to all those years of their life in Tunisia are Orthodox churches, which for decades have been centres of religious activity for different generations of Russian people.
On this memorable day I prayerfully wish to you and your fellow citizens good health, welfare and help from the Almighty in all your good works and endeavours.
With best regards,
+Leonid, Metropolitan of Klin, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa
