Patriarchal exarch for Africa heads celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the founding in Tunis of the Church of Christ’s Resurrection

On 26th May on the Fourth Sunday after Pascha of the Paralytic solemnities took place in the capital of Tunisia Tunis at the Church of Christ’s Resurrection on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the parish.

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the metropolitan of Zaraisk Constantine. Concelebrating with the bishop was the parish rector archpriest Dimitry Netsvetaev.

At the end of the festive service and procession of the cross Father Dimitry greeted the bishop and presented him with a gift of the new book he had written on the early church of Carthage as well as a palitza (a rhomboid-shaped liturgical vestment which hangs by the side) with an embroidered image of the holy martyr Cyprian, the protector of the land of Tunis.

In turn, the bishop presented as a gift to the parish an icon of the Most Holy Mother of God, a censer and liturgical books, reports the site of the Patriarchal exarchate for Africa.

Be decree of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill for his labours for the good of the Holy Church Father Dimitry Netsvetaev was awarded the Order of Saint Sergius of Radonezh, 3rd Degree.

Some of the parishioners were also given Patriarchal awards. The psalm-reader of the Church of the Resurrection and wife of Father Dimitry was awarded the Order of Saint Olga Equal-to-the-Apostles, 3rd Degree. The parish warden N.P. Sai and the parish treasurer L.B. Panasyuk were awarded medals of Saint Olga Equal-to-the-Apostles. Patriarchal certificates were also awarded to the readers A.E. Samokhin and A.D. Netsvetaev, the singers Ye.N. Murmanova and N.P. Chernykh and church sponsor A.V. Parkhachev.

At the conclusion of the service metropolitan Constantine gave to all those present decorative Paschal eggs.
