The Visit of the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin, to Malawi has begun

On February 3, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan of Cairo and North Africa Konstantin, arrived in the capital of Malawi, Lilongwe. Accompanying the hierarch on the trip are the Chairman of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, Priest Georgy Maksimov, and his personal secretary, Reader V.V. Dendyuk.

In the evening, the hierarch met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Zimbabwe and concurrently to the Republic of Malawi, N.V. Krasilnikov. Topics related to the development of the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church in these countries were discussed. Metropolitan Konstantin presented the Russian diplomat with an icon of the Savior.

On February 4, a meeting took place in Lilongwe between Metropolitan Konstantin and the Adviser on Religious Affairs to the Administration of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Malawi, Pastor Timothy Hoviwa. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation N.V. Krasilnikov, Hieromonk Georgy Maksimov, and Reader V.V. Dendyuk.

Metropolitan Konstantin spoke about the mission of the Russian Orthodox Church in Malawi, including projects providing humanitarian assistance to those suffering from hunger. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Exarch presented his interlocutor with a commemorative gift.

On the same day, Metropolitan Konstantin visited the parish of Saint Mary of Egypt in the village of Lumbadzi. The archpastor was welcomed by the rector of the parish, Hieromonk Athanasius Kalonga, and the faithful of the community.

His Eminence chanted the troparion and magnification to Saint Mary of Egypt and addressed those gathered with an archpastoral word. Each person was presented with a baptismal cross and a small icon.
