With the blessing of the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, Archpriest Maxim Massalitin, rector of the Parish of the Resurrection in Rabat (Morocco), visited the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
On March 21, 2026, Saturday of the 4th week of Great Lent, Father Maxim celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the chapel at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania.
The service was attended by A.V. Malenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Mauritania, along with his wife, embassy staff, and Russian nationals residing in the country.
All those who wished confessed and received Holy Communion.
The day before, within the embassy walls, the priest served a memorial service and spoke on the topics of commemorating the dead, Christian doctrine, Great Lent, and the sacraments of the Church.
The ambassador was gifted with a book of P.P. Sheremeteva “Stories of Russians in Morocco”, recently published in Rabat. The faithful were able to obtain Orthodox literature, icons, and holy water.
