On the evening of the 25th of November, 2025, Priest Charles Otieno, a cleric of the Kakamega Deanery in Kenya, rector of the Parish of St. Gerasimos of the Jordan in the village of Siala, of 63. Father Charles was involved in a fatal accident while returning home on his bicycle.
The Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin, expresses his sincere condolences to all the relatives and loved ones of the departed pastor.
Priest Charles was born on the 1st of August, 1963. He became Orthodox in 1987.
In 1995 he graduated from Archbishop Makarios III Orthodox Seminary in Nairobi.
In 1993 he was ordained to the deaconate, and later to the priesthood. In 2021 he joined the Russian Orthodox Church.
He served as rector of the Parish of St. Gerasimos of the Jordan in the village of Siala. He was married and had five grown children.
May the Kingdom of Heaven and eternal memory be granted to the newly departed Priest Charles!
