On October 8, the commemoration day of the repose of St. Sergius of Radonezh, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, presided over the patronal feast at the parish of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Cairo. On the night before, His Eminence celebrated the All-night Vigil.
Concelebrating the Divine Liturgy with Metropolitan Konstantin were Bishop Yevfimy of Lukhovitsy, the vicar of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa and dean of the Egypt church district; Archpriest Alexy Mashkov, rector of the parish of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women in Hurghada; and Priest Dimitry Gurov of St.Sergius Church in Cairo.
The service was celebrated in Church Slavonic and Arabic.
After the Liturgy, there was held a procession of the cross. Bishop Yevfimy addressed words of welcome to the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, the Exarchate’s website reports.
Metropolitan Konstantin delivered an archpastoral homily and congratulated all those gathered on the feast. He presented the parish with the communion table cloth and the credence table cloth, as well as with a set of veils. All participants in the service received small icons of St. Sergius as a gift
Later on the same day, Metropolitan Konstantin met with the clergy of the deanery of Egypt.
