In the current academic year, 10 new students from Africa will study at the Saint Petersburg Theological Academy

During the first two weeks of the 2023/2024 academic year, 10 students from Ghana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, and Kenya – the countries which the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa takes care of – arrived at the Saint Petersburg Theological Academy.

The new students will have to master the additional general education program “Russian as a foreign language”.

It is supposed that after the course, students will continue their studies in other educational programs in the Academy, the purpose of which is to prepare students for pastoral ministry in the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.

Last academic year, this program was mastered by 11 African students, who are now studying at the preparatory department of the Academy for foreign students.

In total, among the students of the Academy in the 2023/2024 academic year 21 people come from 8 African countries: Tanzania, the Central African Republic, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, Rwanda, Ghana, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
