On Sunday 17th December 2023 the community of the holy apostle James in the Kenyan town of Chekalini in Kakamega district celebrated the feast day of the holy martyr Barbara. The divine liturgy was celebrated by the dean Father Peter Lutomia and Father Dimitry Baridi accompanied by deacon John Shilesi, reports the website of the Patriarchal exarchate of Africa.
At the conclusion of the service certificates were presented to those who had successfully completed their attendance at the annual theological online courses of the Moscow Theological Academy. The certificates were handed out by deacon John Shilesi.
As part of the course those attending listened to lectures on seven foundational subjects at the academy, which are: Orthodox theology, Old Testament and New Testament scriptures, dogmatic theology, patrology, the basics of Orthodox worships, church history and the history of the Russian Orthodox Church.
