Divine services for the faithful of Russian Orthodox Church celebrated in Mali

From 21st June to 12th July 2023, Priest Vyacheslav Perkov, a cleric of the Tomsk diocese, visited the Republic of Mali.

“Thanks to the priest’s visit, for the first time local believers could benefit from regular divine services,” Metropolitan Leonid of Klin, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, said, commenting the visit, “Most services took place on the premises allocated for that purpose by Russia’s Embassy in Mali. There were three All-Night Vigils and four Liturgies. One more Liturgy was celebrated at a military base.”

While in Mali, Rev. Vyacheslav Perkov met with H.E. Mr Igor Gromyko, Russian Ambassador to Mali.

During his trip, Father Vyacheslav administered the Sacraments of Baptism, Marriage and Chrismation, celebrated a funeral service and molebens (prayer services), read lectures, met and talked with parishioners.

“I express gratitude to Mr Igor Gromyko, Russia’s Ambassador to Mali, and Rev. Vyacheslav Perkov for assisting the Russian Orthodox Church in its mission in Africa,” Metropolitan Leonid wrote in his Telegram channel.
