On March 24th, in Antananarivo, capital of Madagascar, Metropolitan Konstantin of Zaraysk, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, met with Mr Richard Ravalomanana, President of the Senate of the Republic of Madagascar.
They were joined in the meeting by Mr I.S. Likhachev, attaché of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Madagascar; members of staff of the Senate President’s Office; Priest George Maximov, chairman of the Exarchate’s Missionary Department; Priest Basil Randrianaivo, dean of the Northern Church District; and other representatives of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.
Metropolitan Konstantin told Mr Ravalomanana about the activities of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.
The President of the Senate welcomed the emerging presence of the Russian Orthodox Church in Madagascar and shared with the participants in the meeting his warm memories of his visit to the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow and of his meeting with the Malagasy students of the Russian theological schools.
The participants in the meeting discussed prospects for the development of the Exarchate’s activities in the country and various issues of cooperation. An exchange of gifts marked the conclusion of the meeting.
