Patriarchal Exarch of Africa heads Paschal celebrations at St. Sergius Cathedral in South Africa

On the night of April 11–12, 2026, the Feast of the Resurrection of Christ, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, headed the Paschal services—the Nocturne, the procession, the Easter Matins, and the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom at the Cathedral of St. Sergius of Radonezh of the South African Diocese in Johannesburg (South Africa).

His Eminence was concelebrated by the dean of the churches of the South African Diocese in South Africa, the rector of the cathedral, Archpriest Daniel Lugovoy, and the parish cleric, Deacon Stephen Hayes.

During the Easter Matins service, Metropolitan Konstantin read the homily of St. John Chrysostom for Holy Easter.

At the Divine Liturgy, the Easter Gospel was recited in six languages.

There was reading of Paschal message of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

After the prayer before the ambo Metropolitan Konstantin blessed the Artos.

At the conclusion of the service, His Eminence Konstantin congratulated the clergy and parishioners of the cathedral on the luminous and salvific feast of Christ’s Resurrection.

The archpastor also congratulated Deacon Stephen Hayes on his upcoming 85th birthday and presented him with an icon of the Savior.
