On 6th December 2025, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, temporary administrator of the Diocese of Southern Africa, began his visit to Uganda. He was accompanied by Priest George Maximov, Сhairman of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, and his personal secretary, Reader V.V. Dendyuk.
On 7th December, the 26th Sunday after Pentecost, commemoration day of the Great Martyr Catherine, Metropolitan Konstantin celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Parish of St. Alexius the Metropolitan of Moscow in Nkokonjeru town, Uganda’s Central Deanery. Concelebrating with the hierarch were Priest George Maximov, Priest Thomas Ssebiranda, local dean and rector of St. Alexius Parish, and clerics of the Central Deanery.
Prior to the Liturgy, Metropolitan Konstantin baptized 17 children.
Attending the divine service were local parishioners and pupils of the parish school. The Liturgy was celebrated in the English, Luganda and Church Slavonic languages.
At the end of the divine service, Father Thomas greeted the archpastor on behalf of all those present. Metropolitan Konstantin delivered a homily, website of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa reports.
After the Liturgy, the Exarch blessed a construction site of the Church of St. Alexius, Metropolitan of Moscow, and presided at a meeting of the deanery clergy. In addition, Metropolitan Konstantin inspected the parish school, including its pupils’ living and learning conditions.
Later that day, the hierarch and his travel companions visited the Parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Mawangala village, which also has a school. There, the high guests were welcomed by the rector, Priest Peter Isabirye, parishioners and pupils.
