On October 9, 2023, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa Metropolitan Leonid of Klin held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Sudan to Russia, Mr. Chol Tong Mayay Jang, in Moscow.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Russia-Sudan Business Council of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, V. N. Chemodanov.
“The meeting took place following the visit of the President of South Sudan Salvatore Kiir Mayardit to the Russian Federation in September 2023 and his meeting with the President of Russia V.V. Putin,” Metropolitan Leonid wrote in his telegram channel.
Earlier, on October 4, the Ambassador of South Sudan had a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, M.L. Bogdanov.
“Today we discussed humanitarian and other issues concerning the mission of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa in South Sudan,” the Archbishop said.
