Patriarchal Exarch for Africa celebrates Divine Liturgy on the territory of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant

On 9th October 2024 on the feast day of the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian the Patriarchal exarch for Africa the metropolitan of Zaraisk Constantine celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the territory of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant, now under construction in Egypt.

Concelebrating with the bishop were the rector of the parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Egypt archpriest Alexei Mashkov and the chairman of the missionary department of the Patriarchal Exarchate for Africa Father Georgy Maximov.

Attending the service were the vice president of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant and director for the construction A.V. Kononenko, his deputies V. G. Brich and V. V. Kochetkov, and the executive director of the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage Ye. I. Skopenko.

At the conclusion of the service metropolitan Constantine delivered a homily to those gathered.

Before the service on this day Father Alexei had baptized a child and after the Liturgy had held a prayer service for the consecration of water.

On the eve on 8th October the metropolitan met with the director of the project for the construction of the nuclear power plant A. V. Kononenko and his aides, reports the website of the Patriarchal Exarchate for Africa. During the course of the discussion the issue of the spiritual and moral care of the numerous compatriots who are working on the project was touched upon.
