On May 17, 2026, the 6th Sunday of Easter, the Sunday of the Blind Man, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “The Sign” in Ntoum, Gabon.
The archpastor was assisted by the chairman of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, Priest George Maximov, and the parish rector, Priest Athanase Ebelebele.
At the end of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Konstantin performed a prayer service for the blessing of water. Then His Eminence delivered an archpastoral address and presented the parish with a Cross. All those gathered also received Easter eggs as gifts.
Father George Maximov presented and distributed to everyone Orthodox literature in French, prepared by the Spiritual and Educational Center of the Apostle Mark of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.
The day before, on May 16, a meeting took place in Libreville, the capital of Gabon, between Metropolitan Konstantin and D.G. Korepanov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Gabon.
The meeting addressed issues related to the presence and development of the Russian Orthodox Church’s mission in that country.
