On March 5, 2025, the parish center of St. Sergius of Radonezh Cathedral in South Africa hosted a meeting between representatives of Russian compatriot organizations and a delegation from the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The delegation was led by Acting Director of the Department of State Policy in Higher Education, E.V. Tumakova.
The cathedral’s rector, Archpriest Daniil Lugovoy, welcomed the guests, showing them the church and its sacred objects while sharing the history of the Orthodox community in Johannesburg and parish life.
The visit included discussions with representatives of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriot Organizations (CCRCO) in South Africa and active compatriots from Gauteng Province. CCRCO representatives from Cape Town joined online, expanding the dialogue on promoting Russian language and culture abroad.
According to the cathedral’s website, the delegation reviewed implemented educational projects and viewed a photo exhibition of parish life. Guests also visited the parish library and Sunday school classrooms.
