On October 11, 2023, a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church was held in Moscow.
The members of the Synod had a judgement on the state of affairs in the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa (Journal №93).
The Synod decided to release Metropolitan Leonid of Klin from the post of Patriarchal Exarch of Africa with gratitude for his labours, and preserve the interim administration of the Yerevan-Armenian Diocese for him.
Bishop Konstantin of Zaraisk was appointed Acting Patriarchal Exarch of Africa.
