140 residents participated in a workshop for children and youth in the Kenyan village of Gesonso

On the 14 of November, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the parish of St. Peter the Apostle in the village of Gesonso (Kisii County, Kenya). The Divine service was led by the rector of the parish, Priest Hermogenes Otara. He was joined by the clergy of the parish: Priest Patapius Chasia, Priest Innocent Achar and Priest Roman Muhaya.

After the Liturgy, classes were held at the parish as part of a five-day educational seminar for children and youth, which runs from 13 to 17 of December. The seminar is dedicated to learning the basics of the Orthodox faith.

The meeting was attended by 140 local residents, the website of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa reports. At the end of the event, a common meal was organised for the guests.

In early December, it was reported that a mass baptism was performed in Gesonso: 46 residents of the district, adults and children, became Orthodox Christians. The parish of St Peter the Apostle also operates a children’s orphanage.
