On the 16th Sunday after Pentecost, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa celebrated the Liturgy at the Church of the Transfiguration in the capital of Mauritius

On September 20, 2026, the 16th Sunday after Pentecost, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius. His Eminence was concelebrated by the parish rector, Archpriest Dimitri Matienko, and Priest Seraphim Turpin.

At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Konstantin addressed the congregation with an archpastoral message. His Eminence presented Father Dimitri with an ornate cross.

After the service, a tree-planting event took place on the church grounds. Metropolitan Konstantin planted a commemorative tree, marking the beginning of a future church garden.

On the same day, His Eminence held a meeting with Archpriest Dimitri to discuss the development of the Russian Orthodox Church’s activities in Mauritius, as well as the construction of a church in the capital of Madagascar, which Father Dimitri will oversee.
