On the 11th Sunday after Pentecost, Metropolitan Konstantin celebrated the Liturgy at the Parish of the Great Martyr Panteleimon in the capital of Kenya

On August 16, 2026, the 11th Sunday after Pentecost, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, Patriarchal Exarch for Africa, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Parish of the Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon in Nairobi, Kenya.

The bishop was assisted by Archimandrite Sotirios (Matumbi), Dean of the Central Church District; Priest Raphael Andayi, Rector of the parish; and Priest Athanasius Munyi, a cleric of the deanery.

Praying during the service were parishioners, students, and teachers from the parish’s primary school.

After the Great Entrance, Metropolitan Konstantin ordained Deacon Laurent Beugre from Côte d’Ivoire to the priesthood.

Following the Liturgy, Metropolitan Konstantin greeted the parish rector and school director, Priest Raphael Andayi, who had completed a course for candidates of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa this spring and was ordained by Metropolitan Konstantin in Moscow.

Then the bishop congratulated Priest Laurent on his ordination, presented him with a decree accepting him into the clergy of the Parish of St. Seraphim of Sarov in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire), and presented him with an icon of the Savior as a prayerful remembrance. The bishop also presented the parish with an icon and a censer.

Russian priest Yevgeny Ignatov, who participated in the service, presented the school with humanitarian aid from the Russian Cross charitable foundation. The foundation’s funds were used to purchase blackboards, school kits, kitchen utensils, office equipment, board games, toys, backpacks, clothing, and shoes.

After the service, Metropolitan Konstantin learned about the school’s activities and discussed its development prospects with Priest Raphael.

That same day, the exarch visited the parish of St. George the Victorious in the village of Ngamba, where he was greeted by the parish rector, Priest Iakov Karanja, and the faithful.

Metropolitan Konstantin performed the rite of blessing the foundation stone for the future church in honor of St. George.

The bishop addressed the congregation with an archpastoral sermon and presented the parish with an altar cross.

The land for the church’s construction was acquired thanks to donors from the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa. The funds were raised with the help of a cleric of the Stavropol diocese, priest Alwian Tkhelidze.
