On August 14, 2026, the Feast of the Procession of the Precious Wood of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, Patriarchal Exarch for Africa, consecrated the foundation stone for the future church in honor of the Apostle James Alphaeus in the village of Igembe (Meru Deanery), Kenya.
The service was attended by the district dean, Priest Theoclitos Kithinji, the parish rector, Priest Seraphim Murithi, the deanery’s clergy, and parishioners.
The bishop delivered an archpastoral sermon and presented the community with an icon of the Savior. Pectoral crosses and icons were distributed to all the faithful.
That same day, the exarch visited the parish of St. Athanasius the Great in the village of Antuamvuo, where he was warmly welcomed by the parish rector, Priest Epiphanius Kaiche, and the parishioners.
In the Ura River, which flows just steps from the church, the bishop performed the sacrament of baptism for eight people.
Metropolitan Konstantin congratulated the newly baptized on receiving the sacrament, gave words of encouragement, and presented the parish with a set of veils.
