From March 29 to April 3, 2026, with the blessing of the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, the chairman of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, Priest George Maximov, visited the Republic of Kenya.
On April 30, in Kisumu, Father George held a pastoral meeting attended by six deans who head church districts in the western part of the country.
The next day, he visited the parish of Saints Constantine and Helen, the Equals to the Apostles, in the village of Tilolwo, where he held a general meeting of the clergy of the Nandi deanery.
On April 1, Father George visited the Church of the Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessaloniki in the village of Mlimani, where he held a general meeting of the clergy of the Lugari Deanery.
That evening, with the blessing of Metropolitan Constantine, Father George presented the antimension to the Exarchate’s new priest, Father Joel Kajivwa, coming from the Patriarchate of Alexandria. In accordance with his request and the recommendations of the deans, the priest was received into the fold of the Russian Orthodox Church.
On April 2, Father George visited the country’s capital, Nairobi, where he held a pastoral meeting attended by four deans heading church districts in the central and eastern parts of the country. In addition, a series of meetings took place with several priests of the Central Deanery.
Father George presented to the clergy a new edition of the Orthodox prayer book in Swahili. A fruitful discussion also took place on issues that had accumulated recently.
“The participants in the meetings expressed their gratitude for this opportunity and for the fact that everyone’s voice was heard,” noted Father George. “Many of the ideas that emerged from our fraternal discussion have already received the blessing of the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa and will be implemented in the near future.”
