On 1st August 2023, heads of the Russian diplomatic missions accredited to African countries held a meeting on the premises of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Presiding at the meeting was Mr Mikhail Bogdanov, Presidential Special Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister.
Among those present was Metropolitan Leonid of Klin, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, who delivered an address during the meeting.
The participants in the meeting, together with representatives of concerned ministries, agencies, corporations and specialized departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussed topical issues of Russia-Africa relations and specified major tasks in developing these relationships based on the results of the Second Russia–Africa Summit and the Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, website of Russia’s Foreign Ministry reports.
Discussed at the meeting were also opportunities to promote political contacts with African partners, as well as commercial, economic and investment cooperation and to strengthen ties in research, technical and humanitarian spheres. Special attention was directed to prospects of taking relationships with African countries to a whole new level. In particular, it was pointed out that Russian diplomatic missions in African countries are ready and determined to implement in their work provisions of the final declaration adopted at the Russia–Africa Summit in St. Petersburg.
A whole range of issues pertaining to supporting Russian embassies in Africa in their work was also on the meeting agenda.
