Journal of the Holy Synod on the appointment of an acting Patriarchal Exarch of Africa

On October 11, 2023, at the Patriarchal and Synodal residence in the Danilov Monastery in Moscow, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ chaired a regular meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.

HAVING JUDGED the state of affairs in the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.

WE CAME TO THE DECISION:

1. That due to a request sent from His Grace Metropolitan Leonid of Klin to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, outlining reasons preventing him from further fulfilling his duties as Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, to discharge Metropolitan Leonid, with gratitude for his labours, from his position, while still keeping him tasked with temporarily governing the Yerevan-Armenian Diocese
2. To appoint His Grace, Bishop Constantine of Zaraisk as acting Patriarchal Exarch of Africa.
