On August 22, 2026, in the Migori Deanery (Kenya), the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, held a pastoral meeting to discuss issues related to the activities and development of parishes. The meeting was attended by the dean of the deanery, Priest Patapios Chasia, and all the clergy of the deanery.
The Exarch received into the Russian Orthodox Church a cleric who had transferred from the Orthodox Church of Alexandria and spoke with candidates for admission to the seminary.
Before the meeting began, His Eminence celebrated a memorial service for the recently departed clergyman of the deanery, Priest Constantine Gao, who died in a traffic accident on August 8. The deceased’s father, his brother, Priest Vasily Tuta, and the local clergy prayed during the service. Metropolitan Konstantin expressed his condolences and support.
After the meeting, His Eminence blessed the motorcycles, which—with the support of donors from Russia—had been gifted to the clergy for pastoral and missionary needs. They were also presented with cows.
Earlier that morning, Metropolitan Konstantin visited the parish of the Martyr Philotheus of Samosata in the village of Bvare. The archpastor inspected the progress of the school’s construction and spoke with the parish rector, Priest Roman Makhaya, and the faithful. His Eminence presented the parish with an icon of the Most Holy Mother of God and distributed neck crosses to all the faithful.
