On May 19, 2026, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, arrived in Luanda, the capital of Angola. This is his first pastoral visit to the country since he began his ministry in Africa. The Exarch is accompanied on his trip by the chairman of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, Priest George Maximov, and his personal secretary, Reader V.V. Dendyuk.

On the same day, Metropolitan Konstantin met with A.E. Bryantsev, Russia’s Chargé d’Affaires ad interim in Angola, to discuss issues related to the Russian Orthodox Church’s presence in the country.

On May 20, the day of the Apodosis (Leavetaking) of Pascha, His Eminence Konstantin celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the parish of Blessed Augustine, Bishop of Hippo, in Luanda.

The bishop was concelebrated by Priest George Maximov and the parish rector, Priest Seraphim Lumanadio.

At the conclusion of the service, Bishop Konstantin addressed the faithful with an archpastoral homily.

The Exarch presented the parish with a Cross and an altar lamp.

The faithful received Easter eggs, cross necklaces, and icons as gifts. Orthodox literature in Portuguese, prepared by the Spiritual and Educational Center of the Apostle Mark of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, was also distributed to everyone.
