On the night of April 11–12, 2026, the Feast of the Resurrection of Christ, Bishop Evfimiy of Lukhovitsy, Vicar of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, presided over the Easter services at the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
Priest Dimitry Gurov, a cleric of the Egypt Deanery, celebrated the Midnight Office, after which the Shroud of the Savior was carried into the sanctuary.
Bishop Evfimiy headed the procession, the Easter Matins, and the Divine Liturgy.
Employees of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant, currently under construction, parishioners, and guests gathered at the church to share in the joy of Christ’s Resurrection.
During the Easter Matins, Bishop Evfimiy read the Catechetical Sermon of St. John Chrysostom, in which the central theme is that the Risen Lord Jesus Christ calls upon all to rejoice and share in the feast of the Resurrection of Christ.
During the Divine Liturgy, the Easter messages of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and of the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, were read.
Most of those present received the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
The Archbishop congratulated the faithful on the Feast of Feasts and expressed his hope that the joy of the Lord’s Resurrection would serve as a source of strength and inspiration for good deeds and service to others throughout the live.
The service concluded with the blessing of the Easter food, a group photo to commemorate the occasion, and a festive meal.
