Metropolitan Konstantin consecrated a church dedicated to St. Athanasius the Great in the village of Nyabigege (Kenya)

On August 21, 2026, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, performed the rite of minor consecration of the newly built church of St. Athanasius the Great in the village of Nyabigege (Migori Deanery) in Kenya.

The service was attended by the dean of the district, Priest Patapios Chasia; the parish rector, Priest Theodore Ouru; and clergy from the deanery.

Metropolitan Konstantin delivered an archpastoral address, congratulated those gathered on the consecration of the church, and presented the parish with a censer.

His Eminence then visited the shelter operated by the parish and toured the facility’s new building, constructed with the support of the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage.

On the same day, the Exarch also visited other parishes in the deanery.

At the parish of the Righteous Prince Alexander Nevsky in the village of Oyani, where a children’s educational center is located, His Eminence performed the consecration of the cornerstone for the foundation of a new school building.

Evgeny Ignatov, a cleric of the Yekaterinodar Diocese who is currently visiting Kenya, delivered humanitarian aid from the “Russian Cross” Charitable Foundation to both schools.

At the parish of St. John the Baptist in the village of Manyatta, Metropolitan Konstantin spoke with the rector, Priest Stefan Onyadji, and the faithful, inspected the progress of construction work, and laid a brick in the walls of the future church.

At the parish of St. Paul the Apostle in the village of Gesonso, Metropolitan Konstantin greeted the parishioners, delivered a sermon, and presented the parish with a cross.
