Metropolitan Konstantin consecrated a church dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian, the Holy Unmercenaries, in Kenya and celebrated the Liturgy there

On August 18, 2026, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, performed the rite of the lesser consecration of the church dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian, Martyrs of Rome, in the village of Mulovol (Vihiga Deanery) in Kenya, and presided over the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated church.

His Eminence was concelebrated by the dean of the district, Priest Nikanor Shileshi; the parish rector, Priest Nikodim Karanja; and clergy from the deanery.

At the conclusion of the service, Metropolitan Konstantin delivered an archpastoral address, congratulated those present on the consecration of the church, and presented the parish with a set of liturgical vestments.

With the support of benefactors from Russia, the clergy of the deanery were presented with motorcycles—which His Eminence also consecrated that day—and cows.

The Exarch then held a general pastoral meeting attended by all the clergy of the deanery, as well as students from Russian theological schools who had returned home for the holidays.

On the same day, Metropolitan Konstantin visited the church under construction in honor of Saint Cyprian of Carthage and inspected the progress of the work. The church is being built with donations, which are being collected on our official website.

Next, the archpastor visited the parish dedicated to the Prophet Elijah in the village of Kapasianga, where he inspected the progress of the church’s construction.

The next stop on his visit was the parish dedicated to Saint Nektarios of Aegina in the village of Buyangu. This parish operates a children’s educational center.

His Eminence presented the Elijah parish with an altar cross and the Saint Nektarios parish with an icon of the Savior.
