On May 21, 2026, a meeting between Patriarchal Exarch of Africa Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa and Minister of Culture of the Republic of Angola, HE Mr. Filipe Sivino de Pina Zau took place in Luanda, the capital of Angola.
The meeting was attended by A.E. Bryantsev, Russia’s Chargé d’Affaires ad interim in Angola; Priest George Maximov, Chairman of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa; Priest Seraphim Toni Lumanadio, rector of the Parish of Blessed Augustine in Luanda; and Ministry officials.
The parties discussed the current situation and prospects for the presence of the Russian Orthodox Church in Angola. Metropolitan Konstantin spoke about the activities of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa and introduced the local priest, Seraphim Toni, to the Minister. The head of Angola’s Ministry of Culture, in turn, provided the bishop with a detailed overview of the country’s religious landscape and the current legislation governing the activities of religious organizations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the hierarch and the minister exchanged commemorative gifts.
