On August 19, 2026, on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord God and our Savior Jesus Christ, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the parish of the Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon in the village of Ebuyangu (Kakamega Deanery) in Kenya.
Concelebrating with the bishop were the chairman of the Exarchate’s Missionary Department, Priest George Maximov; the dean of the district, Priest Arsene Chitwa; the parish rector, Priest Epiphany Omusundi; and clergy from the deanery.
Before Communion, Priest George Maximov delivered a sermon.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Konstantin consecrated the fruits of the new harvest.
His Eminence delivered an archpastoral address, congratulated the faithful on the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, and presented the parish with an altar lamp.
The bishop presented certificates of participation in a seminar—held August 17–19 and dedicated to the role of women in the Church—to members of the Union of Orthodox Mothers.
Then, with the support of benefactors from Russia, motorcycles—which His Eminence consecrated that day—and cows were presented to the clergy.
After the service, His Eminence spoke with the assistant rectors and parishioners of the deanery.
On the same day, Metropolitan Konstantin visited the parish of the Righteous Prince John Kalita in the village of Essaba. His Eminence inspected the progress of the church’s construction, greeted the parish rector, Priest Anthony Chitwa, and presented the parish with an altar cross.
Then, at the parish of St. Mary of Egypt in the village of Ramula, the hierarch held a general meeting of the deanery’s clergy.
To conclude the day, His Eminence visited Priest Alexander Otoli, rector of two parishes in the Kakamega deanery.
After converting to the Russian Orthodox Church, Father Alexander was subjected to persecution by representatives of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria, who initiated legal proceedings against him based on false accusations. As a result of the trial, the priest was acquitted by the court.
Now, due to Father Alexander’s deteriorating health, His Eminence personally visited him at home, prayed for his recovery, and helped arrange the necessary medical care.
